During the pandemic, platforms like Minecraft and\u00a0Instagram became complex spaces for both play and\u00a0pedagogy. Discourse tends to focus on interaction and the\u00a0ability to communicate to broad audiences; however, they\u00a0have also enabled a shift of pedagogy out of private\u00a0institutional spaces and into the public realm. I argue that\u00a0these spaces function as a new iteration of the ancient\u00a0Athenian agora, where philosophers like Socrates and\u00a0Aristotle famously met with students in the public\u00a0marketplace. In public space, these teachings cannot be\u00a0confined to the student and teacher\u2014instead, teaching and\u00a0learning are opened up to the flow of daily life and passers\u00a0by, who may choose to participate in, or disrupt, the\u00a0proceedings.<\/p>\n
